Protect Our Beautiful Watershed

Welcome to the Sonoma Valley Watershed Conservancy. The purpose of this website is to provide information about Sonoma Valley Watershed events, education, resources, on-the-ground conservation projects, and volunteer creek stewardships.

Whether we protect the bounty of Sonoma Valley by joining a stewardship group, attending public events posted on this site, or increasing conservation efforts at home, we are all stewards of the Sonoma Creek watershed.

Stream Stewards enjoy an educational Sonoma Creek walk and learn about hydrology and native plants in Glen Ellen.

Join a Stewardship Group

This website serves as a resource for citizens interested in teaming up with their neighbors to work together for improved watershed health.

Existing stewardship groups consist of streamside landowners on Sonoma Creek in Kenwood and Glen Ellen, as well as urban homeowners near Nathanson, Fryer, and Sonoma Creeks in Sonoma. If you are interested in becoming a Stream Steward, would like to know if there is already a group in your neighborhood, or just wonder what it means to be a steward, click the Stream Stewards tab, above.

Stream Stewards obtain instruction prior to planting trees along Nathanson Creek in Sonoma.

Learn about Conservation, Environmental Education, and More

Find out about creek cleanups, restoration work days, and tree plantings.  Sign up for events in the continuing Water Wisdom series focused on opportunities for water conservation, habitat enhancement, flood mitigation, erosion control, and other watershed issues.

You can help the ecological health of Sonoma Valley and meet other members of the community who care about the environment by participating in events. Free outings include presentations by accomplished speakers, docents, and environmentalists to help interpret our watershed resources, processes, and potentials. Check out the upcoming events on the left side of the page, or click the Events tab, above, for an expanded list.
