Watershed Planning Efforts
Sonoma Creek watershed health planning efforts are currently underway, and community input and participation is needed to improve the health of the Sonoma Valley Watershed.
To read the full details of these projects and learn how you, as a landowner or resident of Sonoma Valley, can contribute to the process, click the dropdowns in the Watershed Planning Efforts tab. Learn about Sonoma Creek Total Maximum Daily Load Regulations (TMDL), the Sonoma Creek and Tributaries Feasibility Study, how you can participate in the Sonoma Valley Basin Advisory Panel and the Watershed Enhancement Plan. Public input periods come and go, and we will keep you informed about opportunities to get involved.
Other related watershed studies, projects and plans are the Groundwater Management Plan, encouraging widespread use of recycled water, development and implementation of TMDL action plans (including grazing waiver), and more. In light of associated but often disparately pursued efforts, the need for an Integrated Regional Watershed Management Plan (IRWMP) has become evident. This dynamic environment also highlights the challenges and needs for adaptive management and sustaining interative resource planning to track progress and adjust the course of efforts as needed.
Check back for more project details as they become available, and the Events tab as public meeting dates are developed.
